Hawaii DreamingPosted: March 1, 2013
So, I know I mentioned it before, but on Christmas this year, my mom and dad blessed our family with an upcoming trip to Hawaii; we leave on Memorial Day. I am anticipating those trade winds, sunny beaches, blue water and sun…….especially in this dreary Kansas weather. I love snowy weather, but………I’m ready for a change in season. So, I made this fun little tag for my Mom called “Hawaii Dreaming.”
This stamp from Viva Las Vegas Stamps, well, I adore it. I know she’s a bit “bottom heavy” but heck, if my belly looked that good in a two piece, I’d be thrilled. This gal (I think it’s me, let’s just call it me), she has the sandals on I like……..I always wear a big hat like this on the beach, and that heart tattoo (no, I don’t have one), it’s pretty amazeballs.
I had a wonderful time making a sunny sky, beach, and sea shore on this tag, with mists. The orange and yellow are Dylusions, the rest are Clearsnap Smooch. I tried to add texture to make a beach, using two types of glitter, one in copper and the other in silver. I didn’t quite achieve what I was after…….but hey, it was fun!
I knew from working on my layout “Water Baby” a few months ago, that I can make really nice waves and water movement using cheesecloth, decoupage paste, and mists in varying colors; so I used that technique again. I stamped texture bubbles, and circles, using some stampin’ up stamps. Adding some fun hibiscus flowers and beads from the blue and yellow color kits from Gauche Alchemy, made it just have the punch and shine it needs.
This tag made its debut today in the Gauche Alchemy newsletter. To sign up for the newsletter and all the inspiration that arrives with it from the Gauche Alchemists….visit the Gauche blog today!
Thanks for visiting today, and have a beautiful weekend! ~A
