Hello everyone and welcome to the Helmar Red White and Blue Hop. We have a bunch of wonderful projects to share with all of you and wanted to celebrate the colors of our design team with you. Australia, Canada, the UK, and America are shining brightly, so grab a glass of your favorite beverage and lets get hopping.

I am thrilled to share with you a special banner I made for the family annual Fourth of July celebration that is held at our home. I usually don’t do much decorating, aside from red, white and blue plates, and flags all about. This year, we are missing someone very special (my mother-in-law passed away a few weeks ago), and I wanted to help keep the atmosphere as cheerful as possible, so…I made my first banner. I purchased these Victorian postcards at a shop in my mom and dad’s town last week, and decided they would work perfectly together.
I added vintage plastic doilies, and trims from Webster’s Pages, along with other vintage threads and beads, and I think it dressed the postcards up quite nicely!
I couldn’t have added these delicate laces, and all of the mixed media elements to the clothespins without my Helmar 450 Quick Dry. 450 is now my go to adhesive for the tough jobs that need to be “neat” as well (not show).
There will be an upcoming tutorial video for Gauche Alchemy, showing how these collaged clothespins were made. Make sure to keep your eye out. I used Helmar Crystal Kote Fixative and Crystal Kote Gloss Aerosol sprays to adhere the glitter, and to give it a nice glossy shine. I LOVE the result!
The letters and numbers (Pink Paislee Wood, and American Crafts Thickers) spell out “July 4th 1776″. I wish I could have captured the whole full length banner where it was able to see, not like ants sitting on my mantle. hehe.
