A Day With Art
Posted: March 24, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized 4 Comments »This week has been spring break for my kids. My mom has had them for the majority of the week, but I have had to make some “emergency” trips, to take care of my older daughter’s flights, etc, so it certainly hasn’t been free of stress. This week, it has also been pouring down rain CONSTANTLY. This means, the very plans I had for frolicking my day off away in the city full of sun and spring blossoms wasn’t happening….well, to some extent. So, “a little museum and a lot of shopping on the plaza” turned into “A lot of museum, and no shopping on the plaza.”
I do love the Nelson Adkins Museum of Art, in downtown Kansas City, with all of my heart. I have looked forward to at least a yearly visit since I was a little girl. I’ve tried to carry that on with my kids, but it is getting harder now that they are older. They do things like……complain, and talk about “how boring OLD paintings are.” They much prefer contemporary art (and we visited the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art as well, and LOVED it. That’s where the photo of the giant spider was taken.) But, I drug two of them through, and one enjoyed herself…..and it wasn’t the aspiring artist I also took to the Kansas City Art Institute. Sigh.
So, I thought I’d share just a few (ahem to me, there are a few) photos of our day trip to enjoy art…….as this is a creative blog!
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, and will have some time to create! Hugs!
